City of Toronto Ashbridges Bay

The Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant is the second largest wastewater treatment facility in Canada, and is the main sewage treatment plant for the City of Toronto.
SolarWall® systems were installed on two of the new facilities that were constructed in the complex between 2012-2018. The SolarWall air heating technology was selected because of its ability to achieve huge energy savings on facilities with extremely high ventilation loads.  The use of clean heating also decreases the carbon footprint of the complex so it is helping the City of Toronto achieve carbon reductions while creating energy savings.
SolarWall systems have a long history of successful integration with sewage and water treatment plants, especially in cold climates, as they are extremely durable and have no maintenance.

Background

Ashbridges D Building: A 5,000 ft2 black SolarWall® system was integrated into the new building. 1,150 ft2 of non-perforated SolarWall panels were also supplied to maintain a uniform visual appearance on the building façade. Ashbridges P Building: A 9,400 ft2 SolarWall system in Heron Blue was integrated into the façade of this new building, which was replacing an older existing building. The SolarWall system heats 93 500 CFM of air and has a capacity 630 kW.
